It wasn’t until college that Regina surprised herself and discovered her love for performing. She attended California State University, Fullerton as a communications major intent on becoming a copywriter. However, the death of her maternal grandmother near the end of her sophomore year was a life-changing event that propelled her to a different path. At that time, Regina was enrolled in a class called Intro To Oral Interpretation, and was working on an assignment that required her to recite and interpret a poem of her choosing. She chose John Donne’s Death Be Not Proud as a tribute to her grandmother. It was during her recitation that her professor took notice of Regina’s innate honesty, passion and story telling ability and encouraged her to become an actor, and she began a journey that she continues to revel in.
That journey has enabled Regina to see and experience most of the world. While singing and dancing in many tours and productions in Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States she has become a certified scuba diver, has zip-lined in the Costa Rican rainforest, climbed Mt. Fuji, trekked the Great Wall of China, sung in the Sydney Opera House, eaten scorpion in Singapore, kayaked with a school of dolphins in Hawaii, and shot grade 4 rapids in New Zealand!
Regina’s love of singing is in her blood…she is proud to count the late Gerald LeVert of the soul group LeVert, and his father Eddie LeVert of the Grammy Hall of Fame R&B group, the O’Jays, as family who have inspired her.
Regina has recently relocated to New York from Los Angeles, and is excited to see what this next great adventure will bring!
Regina is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and the Actors Equity Association. Some of her favorite credits include The Bikinis (Barbara) for Goodspeed Musicals, the world premiere of Jelly’s Last Jam (Hunnie), with Tony nominated playwright and director, George C. Wolfe, Barnum (Joice Heth), Working (the Cleaning Woman), Othello (Bianca), Blues for an Alabama Sky (Nikki), Little Shop of Horrors (Ronette), Nine (Liliane LaFleur), Sisterella(Queen Rolonda, Dahlia u/s), A…My Name is Alice, The World Goes ‘Round (Brenda), Ain’t Misbehavin’ (Armelia), Once On This Island (Asaka) the world premiere of Dorian at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and the National Tour of Fame, the Musical, where she can be heard as Ms. Sherman on the original cast recording.
